Margarita Sampson

Margarita Sampson has an art practice spanning sculpture, installation and jewellery, deeply embedded in a love of the systems & structures of the natural world. After graduating with an M.A in painting from UNSW, Margarita turned to object and sculpture, winning awards like Hillview Sculpture Award (Indoor works) 2018 and The Waterhouse Art Prize (Object) 2012 and being selected for the Wynne Prize 2013, the Blake Prize for Religious Art 2016, as well as 12 Sculpture by the Sea exhibitions.  She was awarded a Churchill scholarship for Contemporary Jewellery in 2010 and has a jewellery practice specialising in lost wax casting, enamelling &  most recently dye sublimation on metals. Margarita’s practice includes materials as diverse as wood, steel, silver, fibreglass, resin, textiles, electronics, plastics & found objects, and loves investigating their properties and secret superpowers!
