Margarita Sampson is a sculptor & jeweler whose work is often inspired by coral reef formations and natural patterns of growth & decay. Most recently exhibiting at Stanley St Gallery in March 2015 with her solo ‘Infectious Desires’ show, her work has been included in many juried shows such as the Wynne Prize 2013 & won awards including the Object section of the Waterhouse Prize for Natural History in 2012.
She has been a finalist in ten Sculpture by the Sea exhibitions and was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 2010 for investigations into contemporary jewelry. “I am interested in jewelry as embodying the ideas of extension, extrapolation, infection – an exploration of the organic structures both within the body and in relation to the ecosystems around us.’
