Creativity meets maths and science as students learn to measure, design and manipulate metal into their choice of an open band ring, cuff bracelet or pendant.
Students learn to safely use the same tools and equipment that professional jewellers use to create jewellery.
Based on our sold-out Australian National Maritime Museum workshop, this fun and fast-paced school holiday activity is a perfect introduction to working with various metals.
Responding to the success of our museum workshops, we’ve created a format that allows students to complete a beautiful handcrafted jewellery piece in just one day.
Students experiment with textures while sampling with copper before applying these new skills to their final metal jewellery piece in either copper, brass or alumnium. Studnets may choose to upgrade to Sterling Silver for teh final piece at an additional cost on the day.
All the tools and materials are provided, including copper for practice and aluminium, brass or copper for the finished project.
This workshop takes place in a professional jewellery studio using specialist tools and equipment. Therefore, younger students (under 14 years) must be accompanied by a responsible carer aged 16 years or over. The carer may choose to participate by purchasing a discounted Bring a Buddy ticket and creating their own jewellery, or they are welcome to accompany their young person at no additional charge.
Students aged 14 years and over may attend independently or bring a buddy and save with our special Bring a Buddy ticket.
