Students attending the Winter Intensive will fabricate a vessel of their own design, the vessel will either have a lid or be open, it may be wearable or non-wearable.
While resolving their design, students will explore the elements of form, positive and negative space and the concept of containment.
Students, with Diane’s guidance, will have the opportunity to embark on projects of varying complexity dependent on their prior experience. Students will have the option to choose from easier projects through to more advanced designs. There will be something for everyone.
While making your vessel you will practice metal shaping and forming, saw piercing, the soldering processes of butt joins, T-joins and sweat soldering, along with the fine fitting required for making hinges and catches.
3D form and shape and the order of construction and how to set up work for multiple solder joins will be a focus of this workshop.
SquarePeg Studios will be the place to be this June long weekend so fire up your jewellery making skills, improve your soldering techniques and learn lots of useful tips and tricks as you develop control and confidence under the expert tuition of Diane Appleby.
