Jewellery Studio Bench Access days are run every Monday and are supervised by either Emily Copp or Kim Elliott. These access days are designed for capable jewellers to work independently and is not a teaching session. Emily or Kim will always be available to help you find your way around the studio and if necessary to induct you into the safe use of equipment. Bookings in advance are essential.

Jewellery Studio Bench Access days allows access to jewellers and students wishing to utilise a range of apparatus including hand tools, soldering torches (Orca & Smiths Little torch), drill press, micro motor, rolling mills, polishing motor, ultrasonic, tumbler and a hydraulic press. Please note that students must demonstrate proficiency before they can use specialist equipment.

SquarePeg is a studio enterprise in a 200 square metre warehouse in Marrickville’s creative hub. With space for 12 contemporary jewellers and a well-equipped workshop, Bench Access at SquarePeg is an opportunity to interact with a mix of emerging and established makers in a supportive and creative environment.

If you have just started learning jewellery making or need a little support or advice on your project, we have Studio Sundays. Studio Sundays are on selected Sunday afternoons and gives you the opportunity to spend 3 hours in our studio workshop with a tutor on hand to answer your questions and assist with technical advice. To attend Studio Sundays you should have completed at least a Beginners course or equivalent and be familiar with our torches and our equipment. This is not a teaching course, however, our tutors will do whatever they can to help you bring your project to fruition. Bookings in advance are essential. Please see our listing, Studio Sundays.

Our Tutors

Why choose a jewellery making course at SquarePeg Studios?

Our courses are taught by highly experienced and passionate teachers who are practising contemporary jewellers. This is the closest to an accredited course – without the assignments, stress and cost – that Sydney has to offer. Students not only gain the satisfaction of designing and hand-making their own piece of jewellery they also have the opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at a contemporary professional jewellery studio while learning great new skills in jewellery techniques and design.

I also loved the space where the class was held, plenty of room and tools for everyone to use.
